PSN Foundation Hosts a 10-man Kenya delegate.

The PSN Foundation the policy and advocacy lead on the IntegratE consortium hosted the 10-man Kenyan delegates from the Kenya Ministry of Health, who came to Nigeria on a learning trip. This engagement was held on Tuesday 28th of January 2025 at the Bolton White Hotel, Area 11, Garki, Abuja.
The delegates were led by Dr. Serem K. Edward, Head, Division of Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, Adolescent Health (RMNCAH), MOH Kenya.

Dr. Wilfred Ochieng, Director of Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacy & Poison Board, Kenya, Laura Nabwire, Kenya Practice Lead, inSupply Health, Kenya and others were some of the delegates who visited the PSN Foundation team.

The purpose of the visit, was to learn how government policies and guidelines that support the expanded healthcare service delivery through the private sector, Community Pharmacist (CPs) and Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) in Nigeria were developed. One of such policy is the national Task Shifting Task Sharing (TSTS) policy reviewed in 2022, which has CPs and PPMVs included as a healthcare cadre to provide an expanded scope of Family Planning and Primary Health Care services after training.
The PSN Foundation through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) -supported IntegratE project in collaboration with other implementing partners supported the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) to review this policy in 2018 and 2022.

The PSN Foundation provided an elaborate overview of the stepwise steps and evidence-based advocacy strategies deployed to ensure the review of the policy to the inclusion of the private sector healthcare providers consideration and inclusion into the policy by the Federal Ministry of Health. The PSN Foundation also mentioned its efforts toward supporting the domestication of the document in some of the IntegratE project States such as Lagos, Kano, and Kaduna States. The team also mentioned that Kano validation of the draft policy was just concluded the day before and Kaduna and Lagos review processes were about to commence.
The Former Registrar, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), Dr. Elijah Mohammed was the international tour guide of the delegates and Pharm. Mike Alagbile, DCOP, SFH, were also part of the meeting. The tour was supported by the Society for Family Health (SFH).
